AC Shadows Reveals Surprising AoT Crossover for Holiday Season
In a surprising partnership that breaks conventional predictions, the game developer has unveiled an virtual collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, offering no-cost extra story content for Shadows players.
Strange Adventure Disclosed
According to the official release, "A strange encounter draws heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh adventure, where hints of forbidden practices and fearsome transformations resonate through the darkness." The narrative introduces a "oddly garbed woman named Ada" who tasks the characters with venturing into the Crystalline Cavern—a important location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a hidden cult.
The questline centers on "peculiar experiments and a monstrous enemy" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Familiar Locations and Changes
The teaser highlights the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was formerly where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through ages. The teaser ends with a striking sequence showing a character, likely the captive, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Items and Bonus Material
Players who successfully complete the quest will acquire an unique katana together with multiple objects hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also contains purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-themed costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Special implements
- Survey Corps steed
Third Free Story Addition
This update also introduces the game's third complimentary story addition, titled "A Puzzlement." This lighthearted quest teams Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic techniques: Naoe introduces a dramatic interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns subduing stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also contains a original environmental puzzle that may eventually clarify some lingering questions from the main storyline.
