Toy Story 5 Trailer Sets The Beloved Duo Versus a Tablet Computer
Exactly 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story movie debuted, establishing Pixar as a leading film company and introducing viewers to iconic characters like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now household names.
In 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a brief look into the plot but leaving fans curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys
In the teaser shows the young girl — who inherited Andy's toys when he grew up — receiving a latest toy, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She gets her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the toys appear to consider it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it probably is.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the trailer doesn't touch on is why the sheriff is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), traveling with a carnival and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.
Surely, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And what about Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?
Continuity from the Last Installment
At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The final act Woody did before setting off for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip displays the badge pinned to her outfit.
It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the toys.
Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
